Toastmasters Club

First Burlington Toastmasters Club will resume our Thursday meetings September 8th.

What is Toastmasters?

Dr Ralph Smedley, A YMCA worker, organized the first Toastmasters Club in Bloomington, Illinois in 1905  “To help people who needed to learn how to talk, how to conduct meetings, how to plan programmes and how to work on committees effectively.  “We learn by active participation – by running meetings, giving speeches, evaluating speakers and by giving impromptu talks followed by friendly, positive oral and written feedback provided by other members.  The suggestions which we receive are a very important part of our progress in Toastmaster.   Effective progress in Toastmasters helps us too become more effective communicators and leaders in meeting our personal and career goals?

Who belongs to First Burlington Toastmasters?
Membership in First Burlington Toastmasters is open to women and men interested in improving their communication and leadership skills and assisting fellow members to do the same.  We have found that First Burlington Toastmasters has appealed to a wide audience – to business owners, professional educators, politicians, students, salesmen, office administrators and many others.
